Antioxidants are good for your health Broccoli is high in antioxidants which reduce damage caused by free radicals to cells.

 

Broccoli contains three antioxidants – sulforaphane lutein and zeaxanthin.

Sulforaphane has been shown to lower blood sugar and cholesterol. It also reduces oxidative stress and chronic disease development. It is unclear how many of these health benefits are applicable to humans.

The antioxidants lutein and zeaxanthin reduce oxidative damage and cell damage to your eyes.

Bioactive compounds reduce inflammation

The flavonoid Kaempferol has shown strong anti-inflammatory properties in test tubes and animal studies.

Broccoli has also been shown to reduce inflammation symptoms in smokers.
